Makayla is a Law Clerk at Barran Liebman and a law student at Georgetown University, where she is currently in her second year as a J.D. candidate.  As a Law Clerk, she supports Barran Liebman attorneys with content development for employment trainings, drafting of policies, and legal research.

Before transferring to Georgetown Law, Makayla spent the first year of her legal studies at Willamette University College of Law, where she was involved as a member of the Labor and Employment Law Association, as well as the College’s Street Law education program. She also served as a Moot Court volunteer, and as a student member of Oregon Women Lawyers and the Labor and Employment Section of the Oregon State Bar.

Prior to law school, Makayla worked for the Archdiocese of Portland for five years as a Human Resources Coordinator, Human Resources Generalist, and most recently as a Human Resources Analyst.  Throughout this experience, Makayla developed and presented a variety of trainings on human resources and benefits procedures, administered leave, managed employee relations, and directed a company-wide employee benefit program.  She received her B.S. in Business Administration from Portland State University with a dual concentration in Human Resource Management and Management and Leadership.  In her spare time, Makayla enjoys discovering new hikes, skiing in the winter, and playing intramural soccer.
