In this program, Kyle Abraham will discuss emerging forms of protected concerted activity under the National Labor Relations Act in response to the pandemic. Employees in union and non-union settings are engaging in safety strikes; making demands related to hazard pay, vaccinations, and improved working conditions; protesting employer actions; and appealing to the public using the news and social media. In response to these emerging forms of protected concerted activity, Kyle will guide attendees in answering the following questions:
- What is protected concerted activity in a non-union environment?
- What are some examples of protected concerted activity related to the pandemic (demands for PPE, complaints of unsafe work environment, etc.)?
- What are some lawful ways to address protected concerted activity?
- When is protected activity no longer protected?
